Sometimes we can get to the weekend, thinking that we get to relax and recharge for the next two days. Then it hits us – the chores, the soccer games, the plans with friends and family – we have commitments that hold us back from binging TV and ordering delivery.

If you find yourself having this issue every week, keep reading for some tips that will help you get to the weekend and have time to energize yourself for the next week ahead.

  • Grocery delivery is your best friend!

Take back a few hours of your weekend using this first tip.

Grocery shopping is a big task, especially with a larger family. The actual grocery store trip is only a fraction of it. The meal planning, list making and travel time to the store takes up the bulk of time.

Try grocery delivery – your local stores may have their own service, or you can use AW Concierge’s team to help you pick up your drive-up order.

  • Shared Calendars and Relying on Friends

Share a calendar with your family via Google or iCloud to see who is available and when. You may be thinking you have to drive everyone around town for sports, errands and outings. However, the reality may be that your kids can carpool with a friend or hitch a ride on the way to somewhere else.

Don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it! If you are trying to figure out how you are going to make it to the dry cleaners to pick up your stuff, but need to be across town, call us to help!

  • Make Meals Fun!

This correlates with tip #1, but it can also change the game! To avoid eating out for every meal over the weekend, assign everyone in your family their own weekend of the month to prepare dinner. This is especially fun when quarantine keeps you from eating in restaurants.

Kids will have fun making menus and getting creative. Get a night off from having to be the one answering the question, “What’s for dinner?!”

  • Chore List Breakdown

List the chores you do on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Break those down to spread them out over the week, and assign chores to people in the household. Don’t leave all your chores for Saturday or Sunday!

You may have to adapt this chore schedule as you go, because it will change as your weekly schedule changes, too.
